PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel pump capable of preventing a sliding member from being dislocated from a supporting member even if the pump is dipped in fuel. SOLUTION: Wavy recessed and projecting parts are formed on the outer and inner peripheral walls of the bottom 100a side of a carbon base material 100 forming a sliding member which slides with a brush in a circumferential direction alternately, thereby preventing sliding member formed by dividing the carbon base material 100 from being displaced against a support member formed out of resin and supporting the sliding member in the turning direction of a commutator. Natural carbon having anisotropy is pressed in the turning direction of the commutator and sintered to form the carbon base member 100. When the natural carbon having anisotropy is pressed, a swelling rate increases in a pressed direction, and matches with the swelling rate of the resin support member. It is thus possible to prevent the sliding member from being dislocated from the supporting member in the axial direction of the rotating shaft of the commutator even if the commutator is dipped in fuel and the sliding member and the support member swell.
