PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid unnecessary display, when a liquid crystal power supply is turned off in an active matrix type liquid crystal display panel. SOLUTION: Liquid crystal power supply switches 52, 53, and 54 supplying power for a liquid crystal display to a liquid crystal display panel, a controller 51 which controls turning on/off of the liquid crystal power supply switches 52, 53, and 54, an electric charge discharging circuit 2 for discharging electric charge on the liquid crystal display panel, and a power supply control signal detecting circuit 1 for detecting a power supply control signal CTRLa from the controller 51 off-controlling the liquid crystal power supply switch 52 and outputting a detection signal are provided. When the power supply control signal CTRLa turning off the liquid crystal power supply switch 52 is outputted from the controller 51, this power supply control signal CTRLa is detected at the power supply control signal detecting circuit 1, the electric charge discharging circuit 2 is operated based upon the detected signal, and the electric charge left on the liquid crystal display panel is discharged.
