摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device capable of stabilizing the display response and enhancing the display quality by optimizing a panel construction and a liquid crystal material. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal panel 1 comprises an active matrix substrate 3 and a counter substrate 4, both provided with alignment layers 46, 49 treated with homogeneous alignment, placed opposite to each other with a specified gap d, and a liquid crystal 39 enclosed between these substrates, and is constructed with a reflective electrically controlled birefringence (ECD) mode. Because the liquid crystal 39 with 0.1 to 0.18 anisotropy in refractive indexΔn, <=15 cps viscosity and 2.5 to 10 dielectric anisotropyΔεis used and the gap d between the substrates is made to be 0.7 to 1.5μm, the response speed is fast and does not fluctuate with panel temperature.
