PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a negative electrode material from wastes and to attain large charge/discharge capacities by containing a carbonized material obtained when wood is baked in an inert gas atmosphere or in vacuum. SOLUTION: A current collector made of nickel fibers is mixed into a negative electrode mix mixed with a secondary battery negative electrode material, a binder and a solvent to form a negative electrode 12. The secondary battery negative electrode material is obtained when wood is heat-treated and carbonized. Any wood can be used for the wood to be carbonized, and beech or Japanese cedar is desirous in particular. The wood is preferably heated at a temperature in the range of 300-700 deg.C in the atmosphere of an inert gas such as nitrogen gas or argon gas or in vacuum, then it is heated at the temperature rise rate speed of 1 deg.C/min or more until the temperature reaches the range of 700-1500 deg.C, it is held at this arrival temperature for 5 hr or less, then it is cooled, pulverized and classified. |
