The invention relates to an assembly formed by a protective mask and by a current generator, which can be used by an operator in an electric-arc operation, such as a TIG, MIG or MAG welding operation, a plasma cutting operation or a heat treatment operation. The protective mask comprises voice pick-up means allowing a voice command issued by the operator to be picked up and transmitter means for transmitting a command signal to reception means electrically connected to the generator. The current generator includes means for controlling the operation of said generator and acting in response to the command signal in order to control the generator in accordance with the command signal from the operator.
