<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process a shot cell which exceeds 48 bytes. SOLUTION: A separation processing section 1 divides a short packet whose length is longer than L bytes (48 bytes) contained in an ATM cell, (1) one divided short packet part and (2) significant data which include length information of a short packet are contained in a payload area of a 1st ATM cell (partially filled cell) PC1, the remaining significant data having been unable to be stored in the 1st cell are stored in a payload area of a 2nd ATM cell (partially filled cell) PC2, and each ATM cell is given to an ATM switch 2. Furthermore, a decoding processing section 3 refers to the length information of the short packet outputted from the ATM switch 2 and stored in the 1st ATM cell PC1 and uses the short packets respectively stored in the 1st and 2nd ATM cells PC1, PC2 to restore the original short packet, whose length is in excess of the L bytes, and transmits the packet to a channel in an AAL type 2 cell format.</p> |
