PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make appropriately detectable a human being and to make generable an alarm even when a preceding vehicle exists just before the driver's own vehicle. SOLUTION: This alarm system is provided with an infrared sensor 201, a man deciding part 202 which detects that a temperature area of around human temperature exists in the detection area of the sensor 201, a man detection alarm generating part 205 which issues an alarm on the basis of an output of the part 202, a distance deciding part 207 which detects the intervehicular distance to the preceding vehicle and controlling means which controls an intervehicular distance alarm generating part 210 in accordance with the intervehicular distance.
