PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with a stable horizontal blanking period. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device comprises an AD conversion part 10 for sampling picture signals and converting them into digital values and a liquid crystal display 15 where the digital values, horizontal synchronizing signals, and dot clock signals are inputted through a control part 7, and the control part 7 controls so as to locate a detection point of the dot clock signal at about the center of change points of a picture signal. Thus, even if the dot clock signals are shifted to some extent, the detection point never overlaps the change point of the picture signal. Therefore, the number of the dot clock signals inputted from the starting point of the horizontal synchronizing signal up to the starting point of the picture signal is obtained stably. Consequently, the horizontal blanking period is stabilized, and the display quality can be prevented from such deteriorating that necessary picture is missed or the picture position is slipped.
