SOLUTION: In this sound recording device for recording sound data on a file-by-file basis in a record medium 7, a system control part 6 forms a control means, that prepares a fixed file when a recording mode is set up and causes sound data to be recorded in the file after the file is opened, stops the recording with the file left open if a pause mode set up during the recording, and causes an electric circuit to go into a low-current state with the file left open, if the pause continues longer than a fixed time.
