PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily follow an object even at the time of the zoom photographing of a high magnification and to perform excellent zoom photographing by performing photographing while confirming an image at the time of a low magnification by a slave image during the zoom photographing. SOLUTION: In accordance with the detection of zoom start, one of the images at the time of the zoom start and in the middle of zoom is stored for one frame and the stored image is incorporated in a part of display images and displayed. The slave image to be displayed can be a still image or a moving image. By the slave image, the zoom photographing is performed while confirming the image before starting the zoom photographing (at the time of start) and the image photographed at the point of time of the magnification lower than the one at the present point of time in the middle of the zoom. Thus, the object as a target is easily followed during the zoom photographing. Also, even when the object goes out of a viewing angle and is not displayed at an LCD 34 due to a hand shake or the like, a photographing position is easily corrected and the excellent zoom photographing appropriately capturing the object is performed.
