PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a phase different film excellent in mechanical strength and environmental resistance and having small wavelength dependency of phase difference by using a copolymer having a specified maleimide component and a specified olefin component. SOLUTION: The phase different film comprises a copolymer having a malemide component (A) of formula I and an olefin component (B) of formula II. In the formula I, R is 1-18C alkyl and 3-12C cycloalkyl. In the formula II, R1-R3 are each H or 1-8C alkyl. A copolymer obtained by direct copolymerization of two monomers or graft copolymerization to one polymer may be used as the maleimide-olefin copolymer. The component A content of the copolymer is preferably 30 to <80 mol%, in particular 40-60 mol%. The preferred molecular weight range of the copolymer is 1×104-1×106. |
