PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a liquid crystal display element utilizing a reflection plate improved in the reliability of a noble metal layer by forming the noble metal layer such as silver layer on a non-noble metal layer. SOLUTION: A reflection plate 13 provided with a polarizing plate to reflect incident light on the liquid crystal layer 3 is stuck to one surface of a liquid crystal cell 10. A reflection plate 20 constituting the reflection plate 13 has a multilayer structure consisting of a silver deposition layer laminated on an aluminum foil with hair lines via a coating layer or the like. By forming a protective layer 14 for avoiding the invasion of ions to the periphery of the reflection plate 13, the invasion of chloride ions into the silver deposition layer is avoided. Consequently, the silver deposition layer is not corroded and the liquid crystal display element capable of realizing a high quality display over a long period can be obtained. |
