SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMPENSATING ROTARY ENCODER ERROR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily correct a rotary encoder error. SOLUTION: An encoder 116 used in a marking device generates an encoder signal indicating a detected position of a rotary element. A rotary encoder error due to eccentricity of the rotary element is contained in the rotary encoder signal. An error correcting logic circuit 122 receives the encoder signal from the rotary encoder 116. Plural normalized error correcting values are contained in an error correcting table 124. The error correcting logic circuit 122 accesses the table 124 based on the detected position of the rotary element and its known rotary encoder error, and the normalized error correcting value corresponding to the detected position and the rotary encoder error of the rotary element is provided out of the plural normalized error correcting values.
