PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passive element connection status detecting method and a connection status detector which detect a connection status such as a connection inferiority, etc., of a passive element and a circuit part connected to the passive element at a low cost and with efficient precision. SOLUTION: In a sensor apparatus 1, a sensor part 2 is connected to a rectification element 13 for changing output characteristics of the sensor 12 according to directions of an applied voltage in parallel to the sensor 12 in proximity to the sensor 12, and when the connection status of the sensor 12 is detected, a sensor measuring circuit 4 and a contact resistor measuring circuit 5 are controlled by a CPU 8, and when the sensor 12 operates, a current in an inverse direction to a current flowing in the sensor 12 is made to flow, to detect a connection status of the sensor 12. Accordingly, it is possible to detect accurately and at low costs connection inferiority of the sensor 12 and a circuit part connected to the sensor 12 including a connector 3 or the connection status of a contact resistor, etc., without increasing the number of signal line, and without exploiting an output of the sensor 12 itself.
