PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an optical recording medium which has a recording layer based on an organic dyestuff, is adaptable to high-speed recording and varies its reflectance and performs recording, when irradiated with recording light of wavelength 700 nm or shorter. SOLUTION: When the optical recording medium is irradiated with a light having the nearly same wavelength as recording light or about 635 nm wavelength, of 1-4.5 mW intensity and about 382 ns pulse length, while moving the light irradiated part of the medium at 0.3 m/s relative to the light, the time necessary for the medium to vary its reflectance and to attain the saturation level is 130% or lower of the pulse length. |
