MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium excellent in electromagnetic transducing characteristics and durability, less liable to cause head clogging due to powder dropping and excellent in reliability. SOLUTION: A magnetic layer containing a magnetic powder dispersed in a binder is disposed on a nonmagnetic substrate to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. The magnetic powder has 0.01-0.2μm average major axis size and comprises a ferromagnetic iron alloy containing Co in a Co to Fe atomic ratio of 1-30%. Aluminum oxide and zirconium oxide are contained in the magnetic layer, the magnetic layer has a Zr to Fe weight ratio of 0.01-2% and a Zr to Al weight ratio of 5-15% by fluorescent X-ray measurement and the three-dimensional surface roughness Ra of the magnetic layer measured with a light interference device is 1-8.5 nm.
