The invention relates to a device which is docked by the tong of an electrode holder in a programmed welding robot, enabling a used electrode to be replaced. A support (S) holds the electrode extractor (E) in such a way that extraction occurs via a vertical axis. The support rests on a plate (P) with the aid of damping means (A) that allow for dampened displacement of the support in relation to the plate in an exclusively vertical direction. Preferably, the support also comprises a N charger for new electrons. In a compact embodiment, the support comprises a motor (W) that actuates the extractor. The invention can be used for welding robots that are used more particularly in the automobile industry.
