PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support structure for a contact-type magnetic head, which is used as a recording and reproducing head for a floppy disk and in which the wear of a magnetic pole is restrained and stable running in contact is allowed when the tolerance range of a Z height is wide or, even when being applied to a small-sized magnetic recording medium. SOLUTION: A pivot spring 62 and a support beam 64 are attached in the direction vertical to the longitudinal direction of an adapter 70, and a magnetic pole pad 52a, having a magnetic pole and a contact type magnetic head 50 provided with two auxiliary pads 52b for stabilizing running in contact of the magnetic pad 52a, is attached to the tip end of the support beam 64. Furthermore, two floats 72 are attached to the adapter 70 coming close to both sides of a support matter 60, and the fluctuation in a Z height is restricted.
