PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for vertical type semi-continuous casting of a non-ferrous metal cast block, in which the manufacturing cost thereof is low, the control thereof is easily executed and the solidified shell is thin and this thickness is stabilized by reducing air-gap developed at the lower part thereof, the cast block having little development of surface segregation layer in a sweating layer, etc. is obtd. and also, the instability at the casting time according to vertical variation of the molten metal surface can be eliminated. SOLUTION: In the metal-made water-cooled mold for semi-continuous casting, in which the bottom part is opened, the molten metal is poured into the water- cooled mold 1 arranging a water chamber 6 and the solidified metal is continuously drawn out from the bottom part of the mold, the water-cooled mold 1 is constituted with an upper mold 14a and a lower mold 14b. In the upper mold 14a, a slit 11 opening the upper part is arranged between the molten metal side wall surface and the water chamber side wall surface, and in the lower mold 14b, the molten metal side wall surface and the water chamber side wall surface are integrally connected.
