PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for treating groundwater excellent in terms of easiness of installation and reduced cost and further excellent in operability. SOLUTION: A well 3 is dug from the surface Gs of the ground G toward an aquifer 2, a pipe 5 is arranged in the well 3 with its tip 5a extending into the groundwater W retained in the well 3, and a screen 9 permeable to the water inside and outside the well 3 is furnished in the casing 7 of the well 3 at a position above at least the tip 5a of the pipe 5. Air is sent into the groundwater W through the pipe 5, the groundwater W ascending with the air is supplied into the ground G through the screen 9, and the air in the well 3 is sucked and purified.
