PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing artificial leather having nap, capable of compensating decrease in resilience, dimensional stability and abrasion resistance due to being made to be lightweight, thin and flexible. SOLUTION: This method for producing artificial leather having nap is to laminate one web layer A made of <=1.5 dtex ultra fine fiber on the other web layer B made of polyester fiber melt-spun at 2,000-4,000 m/min, having (20-100)×10-3 birefringence and not subjected to drawing and heat treatment at a temperature equal to or higher than the secondary transition temperature of a polyester in a weight ratio (the layer A/the layer b) of (20/80)-(90/10) and to subject the double layered product to the following treatments in a numerical order: (1) subjecting the double layered product to needling with a sewing and knitting machine having stitching needles so as for stitch-like loop coupling to be formed in a state of stripes on the surface of the layer B, not subjected to lamination treatment; (2) heat treatment at a temperature equal to or higher than the secondary transition temperature of polyester fiber forming the layer B; (3) imparting polymer elastomer; (4) raising the nap; (5) dyeing and finishing.
