PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a combustor for an oil hot water heater in which good combustion can be sustained by detecting reduction of combustion quantity with time. SOLUTION: A decision is made that combustion quantity has dropped if the temperature of a vaporizer 21 detected by a vaporizer temperature detecting means 29 is lower than a second specified temperature and an abnormality signal is delivered to an indicating section 44 where combustion quantity drop is indicated and notified. Consequently, a user can take a countermeasure previously, i.e., a user can perform cleaning operation including removal of tar from the vaporizer 21 or a nozzle 23, and service life of the combustor can be prolonged. Furthermore, maintainability is enhanced because combustion quantity drop is indicated and notified when the temperature of the vaporizer drops below a second specified temperature being set higher than a first specified temperature required at least for combustion and a countermeasure canbe taken previously.
