摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque transmission device using an electroviscous fluid wherein a clutch with a reduction and step-up gear capable of electrically controlling transmission torque can be constituted in a compact and simple structure, and the feeding of high voltage to a rotary body is stable and safe. SOLUTION: A planetary gear mechanism 3 is provided, comprised of a sun gear 4 and a carrier 6, either one connected to an input shaft 1 and the other to an output shaft 2, a planet gear 5 held by the carrier 6, and a ring gear 7. A first electrode 10 is arranged on the ring gear 7. A main body case 9 having a chamber 12 into which the first electrode 10 enters is provided. A second electrode 11 is arranged on an inner surface of the chamber 12. A space between the chamber 12 and the ring gear 7 is sealed and an electroviscous fluid E is enclosed inside the chamber 12. A means applying voltage between the first and second electrodes 10 and 11 is provided, and by applying voltage between the first and second electrodes 10 and 11, viscosity or shearing force of the electroviscous fluid E is varied for controlling a transmission torque from the input shaft 1 to the output shaft 2.
