PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To aim at the reduction of the number of warp yarn cuts, increase of the tearing strength of a woven fabric at its ear zone and improvement of a hand touch feeling by making warp yarns in a stable warp yarn tension state and compensating the warp yarn tension which decreases in changing sheds during the weaving of a woven fabric having different textures. SOLUTION: This method for compensating the elongation or change of the tension of warp yarns comprises guiding the warp yarns at least as first and/or second warp yarn groups 3a, 3b, 3c through modules 4, 5, 6 capable of being individually linked with a backrest 2 and compensating the elongation or change of the tension of at least the first warp yarn group 3b irrespective of the remaining warp yarn groups.
