PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the formation of polymer deposit on the surface of a noncylindrical-flow-channel reactor containing a polymer by controlling the rate at which a reaction mixture containing a monomer is fed into the reactor. SOLUTION: In a process comprising continuously feeding a reaction mixture containing a monomer into a non-cylindrical-flowchannel-reactor, exposing that surface of the channel not to be to come into contact with reactants to a temperature-controlling medium to thereby continuously controlling the temperature in the channel, polymerizing the monomer in the channel, and continuously withdrawing a polymer from the channel, the rate at which the reaction mixture containing the polymer is fed into the passage containing the polymer is controlled so that it may not exceed the rate at which the monomer cause the polymer to swell in the channel. The noncylindrical-flow-channel reactor is exemplified by a heat exchanger.
