PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate an ink ribbon and prevent the occurrence of printing failures of voids or the like prior to curing of melting ink transferred to a body to be printed at all times even when being in any printing environments and printing conditions in printing by melt-separation type thermal transfer printing method. SOLUTION: When printing velocity is made V, an angle is madeθwith reference to a limit where an ink ribbon after passing through a thermal head 24 separates from a body 25 to be printed, a time is made T melt when melted ink maintains a transfer capacity, winding is conducted to be guided on the face of a virtual surface S given by the tip end of an ink ribbon printing surface area V.T melt after passing through the thermal head or the nearer side to the thermal head than that and by the limit peeling angle (θ) of the ink ribbon. Therefore, in the printer or ink ribbon cassette, a guide roller 22 immediately after passing through the thermal head among guide rollers provided between the thermal head and the winding core is set to guide the ink ribbon on the face of the aforementioned virtual surface S or the nearer side to the thermal head than that.
