PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor for rear shelf having a hook which is mounted on the free end of a webbing and eliminates the fear of breakage. SOLUTION: This retractor is provided with cases 1, 2 mounted on the rear and lower surface of a rear shelf 41, a winding-up reel 4 for a webbing 3 having a hook 11 supported by the cases 1, 2 and fixedly-attached to the free end thereof on a tail gate side, and an escutcheon 5 hooked to a mounting hole 42 in the rear shelf and guiding the webbing. An inserting hole 15 which has such a size that the hook 11 on the webbing 3 may be inserted is formed within the escutcheon 5, and a height holding wall 10 is formed on the case which holds the height of the hook on the webbing so as to be capable of inclining within the inserting hole 15 freely. The hook 11, while delivering the webbing from the winding-up reel 4, is inclined easily to absorb shock even if any baggage hits the hook 11 when the retractor is not used, thus it is possible to eliminate a fear of the hook 11 being broken.
