PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid influence of apparent wind in sailing by providing a detection means on direction of natural wind to a boat body, maintaining a rotor of a windmill type part to the direction of natural wind detected by the means. SOLUTION: A natural wind direction detection device D in a boat body has a boat body speed and direction measuring means 20, a measuring means 21 for synthetic wind of natural wind and apparent wind generating in association with running of the boat body, and a tide direction and speed measuring means 22. Based on the measurement values thereof, the direction of natural wind to the boat body is computed by an arithmetic operation means 18. Operation of a turning device of a windmill mechanism is made by a rotor direction controller C according to information of natural wind to thereby turn the rotor of a pitch variable propeller 11 to receive natural wind at its front surface and maintain the condition. Accordingly, the purpose is attained and the rotor of the propeller is maintained to the direction of natural wind at all times.
