PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent expansion or shrinkage in the longitudinal direction by integrally providing a wire having the unexpandable and unshrinkable nature along the longitudinal direction on part of an elastic rod-like body. SOLUTION: A wire 3 with a circular cross section is integrally provided along the longitudinal direction in a rod-like body 2 with a rectangular cross section, or multiple wires 3 are provided in the rod-like body 2 to form a backup material 1 as another form. Chemical bridge polyethylene foam is used for the rod-like body 2, it has elasticity responding to the expansion or shrinkage of a joint width, and it has a nonhygroscopic nature without sticking to a sealant and giving no adverse effect to the sealant. A raw material not expanded or shrunk such as nylon, chemical fibers or a metal is used for the wire 3, and this backup material 1 is fitted in the butted state via a rail serving as a joint bottom between outer wall panels. The backup material 1 is not expanded or shrunk in the longitudinal direction, and the occurrence of cracks on the sealant can be prevented.
