PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit to form a large space where no obstacles such as middle columns or intermediate walls exist underneath an arch roof by increasing a strength for supporting a surcharge applied to the arch roof in an underground structure having an arch roof built between continuous underground walls. SOLUTION: In a state where the ends of both sides of an arch roof 2 built between continuous underground walls 1 are connected to both the end portions at both sides of a horizontal structural member 3 made of a slab in one united body, the ends of both the sides of this arch roof 2 and a horizontal structural member 3 are fixed to the ends at the opposite sides of the continuous underground walls 1. In this way, the horizontal structural member 3 functions as the chord of the arch roof 2 and supports the load applied to the arch roof 2 and, even though the thickness of the arch roof 2 is reduced, a large space can be created without obstacles such as middle columns or intermediate walls thereunder.
