PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material with excellent molding processability and having silica finely and uniformly dispersed in an org. polymer, and to provide a simple method for preparing a fine and uniform composite material formed from silica and an org. polymer, which has achieved, at the same time, both adequate degree of hydrolysis/polycondensation of a silicone alkoxide, and elimination of an org. solvent. SOLUTION: These composite particles with an average particle size of 5-200μm are prepd. by finely dispersing silica (B) with an average particle size of <=500 nm in an org. polymer (A). The preparation method of the composite particles is to spray a uniform mixture contg. the org. polymer (A), a silicone alkoxide or its condensate (D), and an org. solvent (C) as indispensable components, into a flow of a heated inert gas, followed by drying.
