PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a combustor for oil air heater, or the like, in which production of white smoke and odor is reduced when tar removal is started. SOLUTION: A cleaning control section closes the ejection opening 61A of a nozzle 61 with the needle valve 64 of a solenoid 63. After a pump 52 is driven for a predetermined time under a state where fuel is not present in a tank 51, the ejection opening 61A of the nozzle 61 is opened and the temperature at a vaporizing section 54 is kept at a specified level or above by conducting a heater 58 in order to remove tar. According to the arrangement, unnecessary fuel producing no tar in the vaporizing section 54 can be returned back to the tank 51 through a return pipe 62. Since cleaning can be started subsequently by elevating temperature at the vaporizing section 54, production of white smoke and odor can be reduced when tar removal is started.
