PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gate type automatic transmission operation device devised to carry out park-lock and reverse-inhibit. SOLUTION: A lock unit is fixed on a side wall 1a of a case body. A lock lever 13 integrally molding a P lever 13a and an R lever 13b is rotationally energized by a coil spring 15 free to revolve and axially supported on a unit base 11 by a shaft 14 and both of the levers 13a, 13b are constantly turned into the inside of the case body from opening parts 11a, 1a on this lock unit. A lock body 17 to prevent revolution of the lock lever 13 in the anti-energizing direction is provided free to reciprocally move on the unit base 11 by a plunger 23 of an actuator 22. The P lever 13a and the R lever 13b are integrated in the inside of the case body by fitting a connecting part 32. A projected part 8 forming a tapered surface 9 to make contact with an arc surface of the lock lever 13 is provided on a shift lever insertion part 4 of a shift lever 6.
