PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the amt. of lithium to be stored in a lithium storable intermetallic compd. and to reduce the drop of the storing amt. caused by repetition. SOLUTION: This lithium storable intermetallic compd. is the one expressed by the formula of MgxM (M denotes at least one kind of element selected from carbon, silicon, germanium, tin and lead as the group 4 elements, and 0.5<=X<=3.0), in which a compd. phase of <=95% crystallinity or a compd. phase having a nanostructure is formed. The crystallinity is calculated by differential scanning calorimetry and is found by ((the heat of crystallization of the amorphous alloy - the heat of crystallization of the object to be measured)/(the heat of crystallization of the amorphous alloy)) × 100. The state in which the crystallinity is zero becomes an amorphous state, preferably, the crystallinity is conrolled to 10 to 95%, and more preferably to 30 to 85%. |
