PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water absorptive resin not causing the lowering of water absorption power (i.e., amount of water absorption and water absorption speed) even when preserved for a long term. SOLUTION: This water absorption resin is obtained by exposing to an atmosphere at 60-150 deg.C and 50-100% relative humidity a water absorptiqn resin including a crosslinked polyacrylate metal salt obtained from acrylic acid (and/ or its salt) and a crosslinking agent so as to lower the content of the unreacted crosslinking agent down to <=50 ppm in the resin.
