<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating foamed polystyrene, making it possible to shorten treatment processes to simplify the treatment processes and reduce the cost of installations, because a conventional method for separating polystyrene and a solvent from a polystyrene composition requires, for example, separately a process for evaporating off the solvent and a process for recovering the polystyrene, further requires a solvent-purifying process for recovering the evaporated solvent, thereby requires complicated processes and installations, high installation cost and troublesome operations, and to provide a device for treating the foamed polystyrene. SOLUTION: This method for treating foamed polystyrene comprises dissolving the foamed polystyrene I in a volume-reducing agent such as limonene to prepare the volume-reduced polystyrene solution S, kneading and heating the prepared polystyrene solution S in the first extruder 3 to evaporate off the volume-reducing agent, kneading and heating the polystyrene containing the residual volume-reducing agent in the second extruder 4 to evaporate off the residual volume-reducing agent, and then extruding the separated polystyrene in a bar-like shape.</p> |
