PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking control method preventing steep application of brakes when stopping is done by applying brakes to the drive motor for a crane. SOLUTION: A drive motor stop controlling method is such that the drive motor of a crane is started or stopped through combinative use of a mechanical brake and eddy-current brake by an elevating and sinking operation, in which control of the revolving speed is conducted by opening and short-circuiting a secondary resistor 8 of the drive motor, and the eddy-current brake is started, and after a specified period of time, the power to the drive motor is shut off and the mechanical brake is actuated, and the crane drive motor is stopped in cooperation with the eddy-current brake.
