PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance pneumatic tire for a motorcycle having a superior steering ability, turning ability and tire properties, which is well- balanced in those properties. SOLUTION: This pneumatic tire for motorcycle comprises at least a spiral belt layer formed by cords circumferentially located below the tread and a carcass to be assembled with the spiral belt layer. The cords are substantially made of polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate. It is preferable that the tensile modulus for the cords at 25±5 deg.C is 7208 to 15887 MPa, or the ratio (E/F) of the slope at 2.65 mN/dtex (E) and that at 10.6 mN/dtex (F) of a load-elongation curve for the cords at 25±5 deg.C as defined in JIS L 1017 (Chemical fiber tire cord testing method) is 0.7 to 1.3.
