PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice polishing apparatus enabled to prevent leakage of bran to the outside of a bran chamber and made easy to take out polished rice and bran and to detach a separate basket from a container. SOLUTION: An upper face-opened separate basket 31 having a large number of separation holes small enough to prevent rice from passing through and is enabled to be put in and out an upper face-opened container 21 having a rotation shaft 27 rotated by a driving mechanism 10 in an apparatus main body 1. The circular extended flange 34 of the separate basket 31 is hooked on the opened upper end rim 21c of the container 21 from the upper side to hang down the separate basket 31 in the container 21 and then the opened upper end of a bran chamber C formed between the container 21 and the separate basket 31 is closed. At least a part of the outer circumference of the flange 34 is projected out of the opened upper end rim 21c of the container 21 to be used for handle parts at the time of putting the basket 31 in or out. A stirring tool 41 is attached to a rotation shaft 27 to be rotated in the separate basket 31 to stir the rice in the separate basket 31 and rice is polished while the bran being stored in the bran chamber C through the separation holes.
