PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound capable of further controlling the stereo- regularity in polymerizing an olefin, excellent in performance in the olefin polymerization and useful as a homogeneous system catalyst for the olefin polymerization. SOLUTION: This metallocene compound is a compound of formula I [R1, R2 are each hydrogen, an alkyl or an aryl; R3 to R14 are each hydrogen, an alkyl, an aryl or a silicon-containing alkyl, provided that R9, R12 are not simultaneously hydrogen; M is a metal selected from 4th group in the Periodic table; Y is carbon or silicon; X is a halogen, an alkyl, an anionic ligand or a neutral ligand capable of coordinating by lone pair electrons; (m) is 1-3], e.g. dimethylmethylene(cyclopentadienyl)3,6-di-tert-butylfluorenylzirconium dichloride. The compound of the formula I is produced e.g. by a method of using a compound of formula IV obtained by reacting a compound of formula II with a compound of formula III (L is an alkali metal), etc., as a starting material.
