PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a radiosensitizing agent containing a low-toxicity compound having excellent radiosensitizing action on hypoxic cell in radioactive anticancer as an effective ingredient. SOLUTION: This radiosensitizing agent contains a nitro-5-deazaflavin derivative represented by the general formula [R1 is a lower alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group or hydrogen atom; R2 is a 6-16C straight-chain saturated alkyl group; R3 is a substituent group at 6, 7, 8 or 9 position and represents nitro group] and its pharmacologically permissible solvate as active ingredients. The radiosensitizing agent is excellent in ability catching electron instead of oxygen molecule from the target molecule subjected to radioactive irradiation. Therefore, the agent is excellent in effect enhancing the radioactive sensibility even on hypoxic cancer cell exhibiting resistance to radiation therapy and useful as a radiosensitizing agent of radiation therapy to various malignant tumors.
