PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article storage apparatus capable of making effective use of an installation space and reducing equipment cost by rationalizing a combination of the arrangement of receiving shelves in a storage rack and a carrying device, in arranging the carrying device for receiving and feeding stored articles in front of the storage rack having the receiving shelves in multiple stages for the stored articles. SOLUTION: A storage rack 2 vertically-installed with receiving shelves 3 in required number of stages has a plurality of lines of receiving shelves 3 and a lifting device 10 hoisting a loading platform 13 along the front surface of the storage rack 2. The length of the loading platform 13 of the lifting device 10 covers all lines of the receiving shelves 3 of the storage rack 2, a transfer device 20 delivering an article between the loading platform 13 and the receiving shelf 3 is mounted on the loading platform 13, and the transfer device 20 is horizontally-moved selectively so as to deliver the article to all the receiving shelves 3.
