PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically calculate a motion cycle in a medical moving image based on an image. SOLUTION: This motion cycle calculation system for a medical moving image is equipped with a cyclic motion area extraction part 9 to extract a cyclic motion area to execute cyclic motion in an image based on changes of density of each pixel of the image signal of an ultrasonic tomographic image of medical moving image, an average density calculation part 10 to calculate the average density of a plurality of pixels existing in a micro-area in the cyclic motion area, a change cycle calculation part 11 to calculate the change cycle of average density. The change cycle calculated by the change cycle calculation part 11 is the motion cycle of the cyclic motion area. Consequently the motion cycle in an ultrasonic tomographic image can be automatically calculated only by processing image signals.
