PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display is to improve a numerical aperture of a liquid crystal display, and reduce the power consumption thereof. CONSTITUTION: A gate line(11) and a data line(12) are arranged on a lower substrate in the formed of lattice, to defines a plurality of unit cells. A counter electrode(13) is formed in the unit cells defined by the lower substrate. The counter electrode has a frame shape. A pixel electrode(14) includes a part which divides a space surrounded by the counter electrode and is parallel to the data line, and a part which is formed on both ends of a part parallel to the data line and is overlapped with a predetermined part of the counter electrode parallel to the gate line. A black matrix is formed on an upper substrate opposite to the lower substrate to prevent the light leakage. The black matrix has the same shape as the counter electrode and the data line, and is arranged to be opposite to each other. The data line, the pixel electrode, and the counter electrode have a bended shape.
