NEW UBIQUITIN PROTEASE AND ITS GENE

PURPOSE: Provided is a novel ubiquitin-specific protease which cuts selectively proteins regardless of the size of proteins and is thus useful in manufacturing recombinant proteins massively. CONSTITUTION: The novel ubiquitin-specific protease is obtained by the following steps of: i) preparing an expression vector pACUb-M-β-gal for cloning gene ubp 41, transforming JM101 with the expression vector, and manufacturing plasmid pBS-UBP41 using the transformant; ii) sequencing gene ubp 41 and determining amino acid sequence from the gene; iii) transforming JM101 with the expression plasmid pBS-Ubp41 and cultivating the transformant to express protein UBP 41; and iv) measuring the activity of the protein using a radioactive isotope.
