MULTICAST ATM SWITCH AND ITS MULTICAST CONTENTION RESOLUTION

PURPOSE: A multicast ATM switch is provided to be capable of reducing a hardware complication and to be no loss of a cell. CONSTITUTION: A switch(73) includes a plurality of input port controllers(70-1 to 70-N) for terminating arrived cells and searching information necessary for a translation exchange(73) to add the searched information before the cells. The plural input port controllers(70-1 to 70-N) are connected to a multicast group-sorting network(MGSN)(71), which includes a plurality of route-and-sorting modules(70-1 to 70-K) each performing a routing function. The plural route-and-sorting modules(70-1 to 70-K) are connected to the plural input port controllers(70-1-70-N), respectively. The cells are routed from the controllers(70-1 to 70-N) into one or more ones of output groups.
