PURPOSE: Controlling method for preventing catalyst fail is provided to prevent damage of catalyst by stable control of air-fuel ratio. CONSTITUTION: An engine rpm(revolutions per minute) in engine driving is checked and the rpm is checked to be over a predetermined rpm. A load is checked to be more than a predetermined load. If bigger than the previously established load, an exhaust emission temperature is checked. The exhaust emission temperature is checked to be over a previously set limit temperature. In case of over the set temperature, an air-fuel ratio is controlled to be as rich as a regular ratio. Then an exhaust temperature checking process is repeated. By precise air-fuel ratio control, more accurate and optimal air-fuel ratio state is maintained for lengthening service life.
