PURPOSE: A tip-in shock attenuating method for a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission is provided to stop fuel injection even if a driver steps on an accelerator pedal when a transmission control device senses tip-in shock. CONSTITUTION: A tip-in shock attenuating system sets a shift start flag with an N-D or an N-R control signal and decides if an idle switch is turned on. When the idle switch is turned off, the system calculates the time change rate of a throttle position sensor signal and receives an engine rpm(revolutions per minute). When the idle switch is turned on, the system calculates a target shift time and sets a tip-in shock control routine flag. When a shift complete flag is set, the tip-in shock control routine flag, a shift start flag and the shift complete flag are cleared and the system checks if a gear lever is in a D range or second range or locked up. If so, the system conducts a N-D control. If not, the system conducts a N-R control. Thus, a transmission control device senses tip-in shock and an engine control device stops fuel injection even if a driver steps on an accelerator pedal.
