PURPOSE: A power train of an automatic transmission is provided to have a simple structure by outputting a shifting ratio of a four-forward shift and one-backward shift with an output factor as an independent factor. CONSTITUTION: A power train for an automatic transmission contains an input shaft(2) receiving power from an engine and first and second single pinion planetary gear sets(4,6) around the input shaft. A sun gear(22) and a planetary carrier(14) of a first single pinion planetary gear set are variably connected to the input shaft through first and fourth frictional factors(26,36) and the planetary carrier is variably connected to a transmission housing(28) through a second frictional factor(30). The ring gear of the first single pinion planetary gear set is fixed to a sun gear(12) of the second single pinion planetary gear set and the sun gear of the second single pinion planetary gear set is variably connected to the transmission housing and the input shaft through third and fifth frictional factors(32,28). A planetary carrier(16) of the second single pinion planetary gear set is fixed to the planetary carrier of the first single pinion planetary gear set and a ring gear(18) of the second single pinion planetary gear set is fixed to a transfer drive gear(20) to be operated as an output factor.
