PURPOSE: A method for masking a video screen in a multi-process window system is provided to mask an overlapped part when a video screen of a background is overlapped with a video screen of a foreground. CONSTITUTION: Sizes and locations for all windows executed in a foreground are calculated. And areas of windows overlapped with a video screen of foreground windows are calculated. The largest overlapped area is obtained and the obtained area is masked. The masked area and the remaining area are calculated if there is the remaining capacity. The largest part of the remaining area are obtained and the largest part are masked. The masking process are repeated. The masking process is finished when the masking capacity is filled.
